Former Celtic winger Paddy McCourt and current Finn Harps Soccer player enjoyed soccer time and showing off his amazing soccer skills to kids from Lurgybrack and Kilmacrennan National Schools at Kelly’s Toyota Showroom, Letterkenny this week. He was there to officially launch the 2018 Kelly’s Toyota Finn Harps Schools Programme Family Fun Skills Day for all Donegal Primary School Children.

The event is taking place again this year at Kelly’s Toyota Showroom, Port Rd., Letterkenny on Saturday 3rd March from 2-5pm. Brendan Kelly, Kelly’s Toyota, Letterkenny was delighted to host the event again this year.

Speaking at the launch Paddy McCourt said, “It’s fantastic to see that children from Primary Schools across the county are getting the chance to take part in a fun skills event like this. It’s vitally important for kids to be shown and to participate in soccer skills & if there are any skills they like, under a fun, no pressure situation, it gives them the opportunity to get out and practice them at home.”

Derry man, Paddy McCourt started his professional career with Third Division club Rochdale in 2001. Among his other clubs in the early stages of his senior included Shamrock Rovers and Derry City before signing in 2008 for Scottish Premier League club Celtic. After five seasons at Parkhead, McCourt moved to English Championship club Barnsley before joining Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2014–15 campaign and a loan spell at League One club Notts County for the final third of that season. After a season at League Two club Luton Town, McCourt returned to Northern Ireland and subsequently signed a one-year contract with Premiership club Glenavon. Last February, McCourt joined Finn Harps and made in the opening game of the season against Derry City in Ballybofey. He made his Northern Ireland international debut in 2002.

The Kelly’s Toyota Finn Harps Soccer Skills Day is open to all Donegal Primary Schools children, their teachers & their families & they will join Finn Harps Players & Special Sporting Guests in a Fun Environment. The kids will get to meet Finn Harps Players, local soccer celebrities, they will get a goodie Bag and a Certificate signed by their favourite soccer players as well as getting the chance to participate in fun soccer skills.
